Happy New Year cover

We just added our cover of the Omaha band Flowers Forever's "Happy New Year" to our myspace player. (It's the naughty version that Santa didn't put on the Foggy Holiday Vol II disc, which just came out on SF's Talking House Records). It's also the first of our recordings featuring Dylan on bass.
Take note that this is our second holiday-esque song, though to our defense, we steer well clear of nativity scenes and overall cheer in the both. Are we becoming a cranky band version of Amy Grant? My favorite x-mas present to receive is the glorious gift of nothing-- no obligatory gift needed in return. Truly the gift that never starts giving, and perfect for the whole family. But last minute, when the guilt hits on December 24th, maybe I'll throw a CD in a stocking or two. Maybe even this one.

Oh my god, seconded.

At least go Rod Stewart Christmas, if you have to go there.

Ha! Very holiday indeed. I feel the need to start a fire, wrap presents, and watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas, with Jim Carrey.

Hopefully these feelings pass soon, or I may end up spending the afternoon decorating.

bah.

Anyway, the song is great. I will try to pick up that cd.

Totally going to try to get the naughty version and put it on a Christmas CD for my grandma's Christmas party, I'm sure it'll be a hit! 'Specially with the kids. Ah, I can see them now, singing along with shining faces and crooked reindeer antlers.

My usual solution to try to avoid the guilt is to burn mix CDs and make nice “album art.” Or give away a painting or drawing I’ve made. Because it’s absolutely impossible to try to talk some of my family members and friends into not giving me anything. Especially my mother. But then again, she uses every excuse (and makes some up) she can think of if it means she can give something to, or do something nice for, someone. Ah, well.

And thanks for putting up the song - nothing conjures the true Christmas spirit like songs such as that one!

Ahh, I wish they had put this version on A Foggy Holiday Vol. 2.
Although tramps and drunks are quite likeable,
shits and fucks are much more entertaining.

Is there any way to buy this version of the song? I already have my copy of Foggy Holiday, but it's necessary to have both versions :)

Agreed. Christmas is nothing special. Every holiday is just an excuse to do something you should be doing anyway. I mean, why not treat everyone merrily everyday?

Oddly enough, I sat watching the "Meet our new bassist" video thinking, "Where the hell did they get such a catchy bass line? Who the hell is that?!" Get it Dylan. :]

Oh, Bah Humbug, Shawn! :p You should've worn my elf hat in St. Pete. It has magical Christmas powers, er...wait...what?
Anyway, Christmas is shiny.
I love giving people gifts any old time though. (Although I have no money to do so this year...maybe I should just crochet some pot holders. Hey, it worked when I was 6. Hah.)

If this doesn't put you in the Holiday spirit, nothing will. *snickers*
