oxenoxen.com/blog.html

Me and Emilee Seymour have an art blog, by the way, and it is here.

We're in need of a few titles yet, if you are inspired to submit copy in exchange for kudos.

Bayside tour begins tonight. Cleveland. Backstage looks like my high school's drama room. Secondhand, overly plush upholstery and lollipops in a dish. Someone's "Happy Birthday Dad" Costco cake is sitting sadly beside me. It says hi. It just asked me what a "blog" is.

And I just spent a good half hour reading/looking at all those blog entries. This may sound corny, but thank you (and Emilee) for inspiring my day.

Awe, the poor cake is lonely, so it resorts to talking to humans! Ah, it gets to the best of us.

And I love the art blog, glad it's back up. And oh, titles? Why not for art and photo pieces, "thought(s) without words" ? Or something along those lines.

See you, Jon, Matt, and Dylan on the 22nd!

Loving the art blog. And seeing the early sketches is extra fun. But I could swear that I also, like Kryssi, have tried to reach it before but gotten redirected. Due to a at the time slow browser I’d catch a glimpse of that blog and I’m guessing this is an entirely new one? Because I seem to be remembering an entry named “curious animal” with a picture I can’t seem to find now but it might just be late nights and sleep deprivation combined with a semi-crappy memory that’s playing a trick on me? In any case the art blog is seriously awesome.

Oh, and I guess you told the cake that a blog is a web log?

they play Ren & Stimpy at 3 am where I live...there is no denying, it's definitely one of creepier toons out there.

I remember this one episode where Ren is stuck in a cave for some reason, and he creates a 'friend', much like Wilson in Castaway, made out of dirt and fungus. The whole episode he gradually gets more and more insane...I tell you, it would be a head screw to watch it under the influence.

but anyway.

Not too fond of Chowder, but I used to love Ren & Stimpy. I can still sing Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy and the Log Song. :)
If you want to see a really weird ass new cartoon check out The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. I LOVE that thing. It's really odd and has a mixture of different kinds of animation (okay, so it's probably all done with computers now, but it looks like other mediums at any rate).

Anyway, I too was always redirected when attempting to look at the Oxen blog. I'm really glad it works now. Great work on there! I particularly enjoy seeing the concept sketches...it's always fascinating to me to see how an idea starts out and how it comes to fruition.

without sounding corny,

i hope said people love him for his real self, rather than his self he presents to fans, because that is certainly not the "real" shawn and for people to love him for that self would be a lie, because it is merely a facade.

Amber, oh how I love your taste.

Where did all the insanely dark cartoons and shows go? Am I left wondering that's why they've gone and I'm injured in the brain because of them? Surely.

Courage was one of the best shows to make it into a full series from Cartoon Cartoon.
there's other shows that I don't think I could forget to thank for part of the person who I am today;

- Cow & Chicken.
- Ren & Stimpy.
- Pee Wee's Playhouse.
- Kablam!
- Are you Afraid of the dark?
- Kenan and Kel.
- Rocko's Modern Life.

oh happy happy joy joy at such wonderous shows to warp fragile minds.

that's love right there, much to avert main topics actually discussed within this entry. Hoohayhumhay.

Cow and Chicken was spectacular but I swear to God I had nightmares about Ren & Stimpy. It was sick.

I just found out recently that Tim Burton did Pee Wee's Playhouse and I nearly died of joy (and was like AHA! NOW IT ALL BECOMES CLEAR). Kablam! was/is my favorite freaking show and no one remembers it anymore. Upsetting to an extreme.

... somewhat off topic but the new Scooby Doo shits are a travesty. Where is my poorly animated Fred.

October 17, 2008 5:48 AM

Kablam! Was that the show made up of multiple mini toons? Like, one with an alien and cave man? And I think there was some kind of stop motion one made up with action figures?

October 17, 2008 5:52 AM
Anonymous Kryssi said...

Kablam was the bomb, it was a great movement, and it was the one with stop animation, I swear that's one infulence for Seth Green's co-directed show, Robot Chicken, well, the superhero part of Kablam. Oh, how I devour dark cartoons.

October 17, 2008 9:33 AM

I never really got into Invader Zim. But to anonymous under my comment above, yup! That was Kablam! :D

Foster's is my FAVORITE of the new Cartoon Network cartoons. It's spectacular.

Does anyone remember My Life as a Teenage Robot?

October 17, 2008 12:10 PM
Blogger amber rose said...

I thought Invader Zim was alright, it was way too overrated though. And now all the little goth mall kids orgasm over all the merch for Invader Zim at their local hot topics (no offence!) I mean, they seem to be always coming out with new merch for that show. Didn't get canceled like 6 years ago?

ANYWHO. Courage is still my most favorite cartoon ever, "Oh, the things I do for love!" ahaha, ah. Love that dog. And his caustic computer, haha. BUT MAN DID I LOVE KABLAM! And Cow and Chicken. AND OH MAN, DEXTER'S LAB, HELL YES. I loved that one too! Haha. Also Angry Beavers. I LOVE angry beavers, it's probably my second most favorite cartoon, ever. "NOOORBERT!" haha, lordy, I am a nerd. I also really loved Rocko's Modern Life, haha. Classic. Mr.Bighead was such a douchebag. They sure don't make cartoons like they used to.

and even though it wasn't a cartoon, I LOVED kenan and kel, ORANGE SODAAAAA. And the "All That!" haha, "totally kyle!" good times man, good times.

where do they go?

October 17, 2008 3:59 PM
Blogger Kryssi said...

Amber, I didn't know that you completed me so well, a-ha.
I loved all those shows that you were talking about. I remember actually winning a competition about 13 years ago or so on Nickelodeon and I won a rocko t-shirt.. if only I still had that.. i'd cut it out and make it onto a new shirt :3

October 17, 2008 4:15 PM
Blogger amber rose said...

YOU GOT A ROCKO SHIRT? ah, LUCKY! haha! that's so awesome though. As were all those cartoons! The only shirts I ever had were pokemon shirts, haha. Like I said, I'm a nerd. And I remember I was so pissed when digimon came out. I was like, "NO DON'T WATCH IT THEY ARE A TERRIBLE RIP-OFF OF THE REAL POKEMON."

I loved Charmander so much. He was so sweet at first, but then they made him evolve into the bitchy one. I was so angry. ):

and anyone remember Hey, Arnold?
STOOP KID'S AFRAID TO LEAVE HIS STOOP!

October 17, 2008 5:39 PM
OpenID ohkaye said...

Hey, Arnold is my FAVORITE SHOW EVER as evidenced by italics of joy!

I loved the one where he found Helga's diary. Cracked my shit up. Helga in general was pretty spectacular. And the one where they went to go see Carmen and Arnold fell asleep and dreamed they were all in it? I STILL get songs from that episode stuck in my head.

... Which isn't sad at all.

October 17, 2008 9:25 PM
Blogger Kryssi said...

Mhmm!
I loved that shirt so much, I think that's why some of the motif started to fade... or is that just a deja vu of something else I own? Only time shall tell.. However, all this cartoon malarky has actually inspired me to go do some art on t-shirts and on various other mediums... Huzzah.

Hey! Arnold was pretty much one of my favourite shows, too. Helga was such a bratty kid most of the time, but her fondness for him really got me in stitches, with her shrine and what not. Shows you how bad love can hit the best of people.

Did anyone remember how spooky the intro was to Are you afraid of the dark? that was cool though, I often find myself humming the tune.

POKEMON!! I think it got stupid after... the 3rd generation of Pokemon, they've changed Ash's voice so he sounds like he's gone through some slight and uneccessary puberty. Charmander was a dear, like you said, Amber, but why in god's name did Charmeleon have to be such a dickhead? That maybe explains the beginnings of a 'horn' on his head... Damn, I could rant about cartoons all day.
