Hang The DJ

This was my DJ set Tuesday night at the aptly named Harlot on Minna in SF.

Aptly named because of my sense of fashion on the night.

I woke to the joker’s face, not in a mirror, but a smudgy likeness grinning back at me from my mattress.

And of course, the
YANKEE IN A CHIP SHOP video

I'm really really scared.
You've definitely got the manic grin perfected.
What a sight to see just before I go to bed myself.
Nice set list too!

awesome awesome set list, great costume/ makeup.. And you're gross for not washing that off haha! But the wig(?) was a good touch. I wish I had been there...

Normally I’d agree with Jon that you have a handsome smile (because normally you do). But your Joker-smile is really rather scary. You look really awesome as the Joker, by the way. I’ve seen quite a few attempting the look and no one has really been able to pull it of. Maybe they simply lack the manic grin qualities? In any case; congrats on the costume. However, I wonder, what was up with the red-ish hair? Though I’m far from being a Batman devotee I think I remember the Joker’s hair being green?

Anyway, agreeing with preceding comments, the setlist was very nice! And I hope you had fun.

Well if he was going for the movie look, his hair would have to be blonde.

In this case, the hair pushes the look a LITTLE bit into the Ronald McDonald field (gone insane, possibly. Out to murder children, possibly). Still. Pulled off VERY well. I want more pictures, haha.

YOU WENT ON BART LIKE THAT!?

Oh Lord.
I'm sure the riders have seen crazier things, actually.
I once witnessed a lovely young lady take her shoe off and start smelling her foot and picking the toe jam out from between her toes.

I'm sorry for telling you that, I just realized how disgusting that story truly is.

September 5, 2008 2:26 PM
Blogger Rose said...

Blonde with a hint of green though? Or perhaps it was just my imagination that in Dark Knight the Joker’s hair had a subtle tone of green even though it was blonde? Not that it matters. (And I really shouldn’t talk about the movie, huh? Since clearly my memory does not serve me right.)

--

And ah, that's true, I had forgotten entirely about that scene where he dressed up as a nurse. My bad.

And I must say, the song choice for the playlist is pure GENIUS.

and I find it funny how some of these comments say how you need green or blonde hair. Obviously, they don't understand that you're the joker as the nurse, like you've said about a million times.

Coolness with the setlist.

Oh, no, I was not talking about whether or not Shawn should have had blonde or blonde/greenish hair. I was straying from the topic and trying to recall what the Joker’s hair color looked like in the movie. And before that I only asked because, as everyone surely knows by now, my memory is really not the best so the red hair confused me. (In addition I had no idea he in fact already had explained it.) This is really all rather unimportant however. The focus should be on Shawn’s ace setlist. So I apologise for averting the attention from that.

Finally, photographic evidence that I'm not crazy/biased (as Jon implied during that Rosstar interview when I imed the story of you scaring the heck out of me so many years ago) and that you really do have a creepy smile. Kudos for having Iggy Pop's "Lust for Life" on there, because I had that song on repeat today while I hauled my tired body to work after going to the show last night (I was pleasantly surprised by both Jon and Dylan the Turtle). I'm glad you ended up not naming your guitar Telegraph, because I think that's what I'm going to name my acoustic (and then paste pictures of various landmarks along Telegraph in both Oakland and Berkeley to the back of the body because I'm an arts and crafts addict).

P.S. Someone I was talking to last night brought up a question that's now stuck in my mind. Do you own a Bedazzler?

I really hope him working with a Fueled by Ramen band doesn't bring all their fangirls along with it. Sadly, we already have a few of those , and we do not need anymore. I guess Forgive Durden at least aren't a huge FBR band or anything. I mean, I want the Matches to get as many fans and the recognition they deserve, but I want them to get it the right way. And not people that just think they're attractive.
