Well, this post taught me that my mom's a big Boston fan. I don't know how to feel about that...happy? sad? proud?

This tied to a story about a man walking his pet skunk who, aparently, lift their leg to pee just like a dog.

Which led her to attempt to tell me about the after party with Boston after their concert, I'm not sure I want to hear about it.

Thank you for this post, I now know my mother just that much more.

I'm going to be nice and at least semi-clear this up:
We (ie, the Matches boardies, led by Wayne, also known as Idiotttt in some circles) have been politely requesting a cover of More Than A Feeling for...what's it been, months by now, right?
So we were all down in Socal last week, again, politely requesting said cover, and Justin made ridiculous excuses involving karaoke and something about Reel Big Fish and ended by saying that he was too traumatized to ever cover Boston.
(Even though anyone with ears and a brain would acknowledge that a Matches cover of said song would melt many, many faces and make many a dedicated fan tear up with happiness.)

Dear Shawn,

Tonight was the most amazing night of my life, the confetti, the triangle trio, and the insane performance the band had all while a tornado drew near. U probably dont remember me but i did make a inside joke/comment regarding to this blog, i cant wait to see yall in a month, one thing i know for sure though is that on march 18th ill be buying 2 copies of a band in hope

February 16, 2008 10:12 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Wow, Dani.
How much did it cost there?
Here it's like 15 bucks a ticket (...for a movie... of a concert... thats in 3d... but still... a MOVIE) or my friend and I were going to see it as a joke/for that song that says my name.
I went to a Hilary Duff concert cause it was free with my friend sort of as a joke, sort of cause we were desperate to go to a concert. It was actually pretty fun. The guitarist was hot... we wanted HIS autograph. Mmm. Haha.
But anyways...
Yeah... that song is back in my head cause I heard it again yesterday. "St st st stutter when you ask me what I'm thinkin' about.... something something... My best friend Leslie says, She's just bein' Miley!" >.< So stupid. So catchy.

February 17, 2008 11:08 AM
Anonymous dani said...

I only paid like 7 or 8 bucks but that's because I have these awesome movie passes that I buy at Costco! They didn't make me pay extra for the glasses with the passes. I would have refused anyway. It was practically empty when I went though. That's what made it fun. It was just a bunch of people screaming and running around the theatre like idiots. I loved it!

February 17, 2008 11:59 AM
Anonymous dani said...

It would have been like 15 though. It costs that much to see any movie around here though.

Screaming and acting like an idiot is my favorite thing ever! Haha.

Here the movies only cost like 9bucks. For all movies. Except this Hannah Montanna one which is 15.
Which blows when it's a really short movie... like Meet The Spartans. We paid full price for a movie that lasted probably an hour tops. The most we watched were the previews. >.<

And when I hear Their City I want to dance while punching something.
Makes me all... ready to go and get all my anger out.
Which is good. =^]

If you guys covered that, it would be phenomenal.

In my opinion, it's one of the best songs ever.

You could just appease Justin with... candy bars or something and get him to do it.

Bribe Justin to do it.
Or you could always blackmail him, whichever would turn out to be more effective.

Seriously though, you guys should cover More Than A Feeling.
Because it is an amazing song.
It would be a masterpiece not intended for those weak of heart who couldn't handle that wondrousness.

haha i saw you on the cover of AP. After all these useless bands on cover, it's glad to know that AP finally made the right thing.

so how do you do it?
create music, post an extraordinary blog, create poetry in music, feed your pets, record an album, play the album live, design your own clothes, save the day and save yesterday. yeah i know you do all of these in one day. so how do you do it, Shawn? I'm 100% sure you're not a superhero. I'm also sure you're not either of the following: a martian, a multi-tasking futuristic robot sent by the Future, not Bruce Wayne, definitely not one of Bruce Wayne's adopted kids.

Yeah and i'm still wondering how you do it.

I have to say that I have been incredibly taken aback by the lyrics in such songs as Scratched Out and From 24C. I was thinking about the lyrics tonight and made my own poem. Thanks for the inspirational lyrics Shawn, and the incredibly artistic music overall, The Matches:

Enthrone me with flowering words.
As I charm you with these ornate phrases in thirds.
Sitting here basking in the sun,
Changing channels like skipping stones,
Finding a way to waste this time.
Leaning back,
As I’m fading to the bare skin and bones.

Get to “that,”
Before it’s too late.
What is “that?”
After this wait.

Take away the past,
Establish the future before it’s surpassed.
There’s only so much time to waste,
Before it’s too late.
Before we can relate.
To those in shallow graves,
Damned from their endless craves.

I feel like I’ve heard it,
Maybe on the radio past nights.
It’s just a figment that I may commit,
Permit it in my head.
As I lay down on this bed,
Pretending to think this matters.

The day shies gone in the shimmering May,
As I wait and stay.
Wait out this day.
Like a cig in an ashtray.
Motivation melts away.

im curious as to whether or not you will answer this.

you have mentioned in the past the desire for commerical success to enbable you to do what you wish with your music videos and what not

and when decomposer was overlooked, you said you no longer feel commerical success is whats at value,

did you really want to be on MTV?
did you want to be one of those bands?

success can come in different forms without risking your dignity and personality for a band like yours.

is that what you wanted, though?
i know you wanted to cell cds, but did you want to be displayed all over Hot Topic? did you want have a video looping on MTV until you were hated mercilessly?

im just curious
