The Wizard Speaks

Shawn:
Am I really the asshole, or are you the asshole in making me look like
an asshole?
(And have you noticed that a sentence with the same profanity three
times results in that profanity suffering from overexposure and
becoming numbingly absurd?)

We talked, agreed that, as our Epitaph PR guy just passed on to me (to
tell you), we should hold back on this long, revealing rant of yours
until a press release closer to the CD date.

So when you told me you'd jumped the gun with posting to your blog with
that quote (as I'd asked you to write to help Epitaph with their press
release), I said best that you take it down.

"Oh, fine," you said, like a petulant 13-year old girl told to go back
to your room and change into something less slutty. However, you
indicated that this made sense to remove the quotes for now.

I didn't think you'd stick me with the reputation as the violent,
coarse censor of your musings.

Your independent blogging rights can be revoked, you know. A simple missed month of web host payments and your whole web-wide-world crumbles. Do not cross me again.

Woah. I figured that was a label thing...

I didn't think the violent,
coarse censor gave anyone a reputation of a asshole...merely a creative way of saying "Oh, our management doesn't want this shown yet.". Though, I didn't really think such a beautifully written rant could be equated to something slutty, either.

And as far as I can remember, Blogger is free to the users...

Good job Miles, you sow that uppity Shawn who's boss. No offense Shawn, but he's kinda made a sensible point (though doing it through these means doesn't entirely seem like a wise idea; making you sound like an overzealous child). It was smart on his part to "shade" the post, but a public rant such as this, I think (take or leave), was a tad too brash. He should have stuck it up YOUR ass first instead of publicly humiliating you(if that word is befitting. I'm not sure if you're humiliated).

Have you noticed your blog controversy had claimed a spot on The Matches Wikipedia page? I stumbled across it and was amused.

"With this record's release approaching, great controversy appeared for the band. "Who Let the Yankees In the Chip Shop?" leaked on to the band's message boards and on Facebook. On Heavy Breeding, YShawn Harris' blog, Shawn posted one entry including an apparently revealing rant about the album, which was later scribbled out, and read "The Wizard Was Here!" with a white flag on the side. The next blog entry was a letter written by "The Wizard," Miles Hurwitz, who assisted in developing the album Decomposer."

Good Stuff
You have been documented.

October 2, 2007 3:37 PM
Anonymous Chowder The Success Machine said...

And now that I have read the original post I must say things like this...

Just because you didn't land number one on some chart does not mean that you have failed or that you aren't successful. I mean in all honesty have you heard some of the things on those kinda lists? Granted they aren't all atrocious but there are quite a few shake your head worthy contenders. The kind of success that you seem to feel like you have missed out on, is it really success at all? I think that when you reach that level something gets lost along the way. Now you have true fans, not just people who heard your song on the radio and fell in love with a face. If I am to say any of these things about any band it is fitting that it is you. You are the one band that I cannot get out of my head and by that I do not mean only my ears. The matches are constantly in my everyday conversation to the point where it has been pointed out by others and considered by myself that maybe its a little out of the ordinary. Guilty. I can't get enough of the clever lines along with the wit behind and everything that seems to be dripping with implication. The matches can write a song about being sick at the beach and I find it nothing but brilliant. Believe me I could go on for pages trying to explain my fascination and appreciation for The Matches but I will try and cut it down to fewer words. Just make sure that the success you are looking for is the blessing you think it is and not the very opposite. And while you are basking in your disappointment be sure not to overlook the fact that there are people who have caught on and know full and well that you deserve the world.

China and Russia put the blame on some screwed up experiments of US for the earthquake that happened in Haiti.
Chinese and Russian Military scientists, these reports say, are concurring with Canadian researcher, and former Asia-Pacific Bureau Chief of Forbes Magazine, Benjamin Fulford, who in a very disturbing video released from his Japanese offices to the American public, details how the United States attacked China by the firing of a 90 Million Volt Shockwave from the Americans High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) facilities in Alaska
If we can recollect a previous news when US blamed Russia for the earthquake in Georgio. What do you guys think? Is it really possible to create an earthquake by humans?
I came across this article about Haiti Earthquake in some blog it seems very interesting, but conspiracy theories have always been there.

Online guitar lessons are a great way to learn guitar. Cheaper and more convenient than private studio lessons, the technology is now at a point where the difference in quality is nonexistent and actually has many advantages.

The French gourmet cheese Bleu d'Auvergne has a wonderful aroma, a rich taste; the saltiness increases with the incidence of veining. The overall flavor is piquant but not overly sharp. Bleu d'Auvergne started life as an imitation of Roquefort, using cow's milk in place of sheep's milk. Legend has it that a peasant, around 1845, decided to inject his cheese with a blue mold that he found growing on his left-over bread (the motto being, waste not, want not). And thus, the gourmet cheese Bleu d'Auvergne was born. This French gourmet blue cheese comes from the region of Auvergne and the cheese is made from milk of Salers and Aubrac cows. The rind is very thin and so the cheese is usually wrapped in foil. The cheese is rich and creamy with a pale yellow color and scattered holes and well-defined greenish-blue veining. We cut and wrap this cheese in wedge of 8 ounces and 1 pound.

Do you think the best way to get the cheapest plane tickets is by calling the airline? Or, do you scan through hundreds of websites provided by search engines to find low airfare tickets? Maybe you hope to find cheap airfare in the local newspaper's travel section.
Finding cheap airline tickets can be one of the most frustrating experiences that most of us learn very quickly. Of course, most people eventually give up after spending hours scanning websites that offer virtually the same flight schedules and pricing. People purchase what they believe is the cheapest plane ticket, only to find their neighbor paid just a third of what they did!

Unless you understand the concept of of how airlines set prices, all the searching in the world won't provide the cheapest airline ticket prices. The following information will give you a guide to follow, as you wander through the maze searching for cheap airfare.

Understand how prices are set by airlines! Air ticket pricing is complex and unpredictable, and driven by competition, demand, and inventory. Airlines call this "yield management."

Competition is the beast behind the cheapest plane tickets. All major airlines utilize central reservation systems (owned by various airlines) to fill available seats. The systems are known as Apollo, Sabre, WorldSpan and Galileo. Prices are based on demand, and if some flights are selling well, the price will increase. If the flight is unpopular and has very little demand, the fare is lowered in hope of attracting consumers. In short, fares and inventory change every minute of every day!

Finding the cheapest plane tickets is difficult because travel agents and Internet websites use the central reservation systems that are updated periodically throughout the day. The reason why different searches come up with different results is because the systems are not updated at the same times. And, each system may use different algorithms when searching for low airfare tickets, which can provide a variety of ticket prices .

Hello everybody,

What online mags do you read and would recommend?

For all you ska folks out there I recommend The Enough Fanzine. It is one of the first punk zines on the web.

They have throusands of reviews from the most underground bands all over the world. Check them out online: Enough Fanzine. Best of it all, they are 100% non-profit and just helping the scene!

Looking forward to your recommendations.

Cheers!
