This is ironic, because my best friend and I were recently discussing how Dave Matthews is the Da Vinci Code of music.
I would elaborate, but you probably don't care, and I wouldn't want to offend anyone with my opinions of Dave Matthews or The Da Vinci Code.
That being said, congratulations, not only for beating out Mr. Matthews, but the musical phenomenon also known as Korn.
That is a feat in itself.

Dave Matthews is overrated.
Oh, silly Shawn. Better is just an opinion, and there a ton of good fans that would rather pick you over many, many other bands. It's kind of like a 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' theory.
But, if you want to be better in the eye's of The Rolling Stone, you're alot better about NOT dumping shit on a boat then Dave Matthews

Ha, well...
This may make me sound like some sort of an elitist, which is far from the truth...my friend and I just get on these little kicks.
And this theory is solely based on persons that we are surrounded by, and, well, the bar isn't that high.
So basically, almost everyone that knows how to read has read The Da Vinci Code, and liked it, hence it becoming a best seller and whatnot.
Personally, we didn't find it all that great.
Then onto Mr. Matthews. We obviously cannot deny that the man has talent, but the same thing, just about everyone that isn't deaf, likes Dave Matthews, or just claims to so they can "party" at his concerts (or at least that's what happens here).
Both are highly renowned, while lesser-known, but in our eyes, better, musicians and books go seemingly unnoticed.
What is comes down to is that everyone that has no taste in good music likes Dave Matthews, and everone that has no taste in good literature likes Dan Brown.
And also, we decided that all of Dave Matthews' songs sound the same, give or take.
And if you have read anything more by Dan Brown (which if you don't enjoy wasting your time, you haven't) than the Da Vinci Code, you'd realize that each is exactly the same.
A seemingly "normal" guy is forced to become a hero, while winning an intellectual girl who happens to know everything about his predicament in the process.
That all made sense in my head, which means that it probably is incomprehensible, but I gave it my best shot...
Well that's pretty darn cool.
Pointless fact: basically everyone I know LOVES Dave Matthews. And me? I can't stand him/his band.
So I'm the odd one out. But who cares, because I listen to better music than them...like The Matches. Which makes me agree with the comment above. I thought the daVinci Code was bad, but then (stupidly) I read Angels and Demons (also by Brown) and IT WAS THE SAME. So I can see the whole Dave-Dan thing.
Ok, I'm done wasting space.

Pop culture is such a object of irony. I'm still confused as to how whatever is popular at the time is chosen but, they're all alike in some way. Very much the endless cycle, though if it weren't for this we wouldn't truley appreciate the things that are deserving.

Shawn, I thought it would be imperative to inform you that your band's sticker is in Judd Apatow's newest creation, SuperBad.
During one of the first scenes in the movie in Michael Cera's room, in the right hand corner of a cork board is your band's sticker, as well as a sticker from Epitaph records.

I personally haven't read the Da Vinci code, because quite frankly I could care less. But surrounded by a house full of Dave Matthews followers, (the youngest of which went to his concert at 12), I can definitely see where you're coming from.
