I wrote a song with the hereby banished word "heart" in it. I am officially on laundry detail with 10 demerits until further notification. At least the "dance" bomb was not deployed. Dance- a word so highly endangered of losing all meaning that the penalty for it's poaching is no more than 15 minutes of fame in a maximum insecurity position on the billboard charts. (the Higher have been granted amnesty.)

That dance was amazing. I think it's time for the Matches to become a boy band. Sexy.
It's forgivable only because you identified your clumsy mistake...lol. Cheers. =^.^=
Very true, very true. At least you didn't get toilet duty though...
you know i think the problem started when new words were over-introduced into the eco-system, such as the "Whoa" and "Hoe" and the infamous predator "Bee-awtch"
I hate the word "lovely" and the phrase "not a problem".
If artists continue using the word "dance" for 15 minutes of fame all the generations will begin falling apart to half time ;)
Hahahahahahahahaha... Showing Epitaph Love Much?

the higher=awesome. and i don't usually listen to their kind of music, but it's fantastic!
i think hate is becoming one of those endangered words, i feel like i hear it every time i turn on the radio. ah well, at least maggots is not endangered...
the higher= amazing! :]
Haha... I love the endangered words. Way to keep it real. Wait...did I just say "keep it real"?!
Ah yes, finally..my hero of all things music has a blog. I could dance with glee :)
I have one question though; do you think I could possibly put a link to your blog on MY blog?
And I hope your week ahead will be wondermous (yes..I know that isn't a word :P ) <3
Tell me Shawn, how the word dance is being "poached." Just the way you put it into words intrigued me and I'd like to hear more of your opinion.
sounds like being cliché in lyric pays in fame of the fickle variety. don't go too "Hollywood". Eastbay rocks ;P
Hmmm well that makes sense i suppose... hmmm.. over used words.....damn them....What ever will we do??
This is a little off topic, but speaking of The Higher I just saw them on Friday. I have to say I quite enjoyed it, despite the fact that they played in a roller rink.

I quite agree that so many words are over used and effectively murdered by songs and some songwriters.
Hey Shawn, anything you write seems so fresh and new and gives such an indepth new spin that I would not habe thought of before - Modern day Mr.Cobain.
Psh.
I like the words "heart" and "dance."
I think you should use them all you want.
I like ma heart and I like to dance.

Kay.
I really don't know what I'm talking about.
I think I'm just speaking to speak.
Words are cool.

Laundry detail >,< unlucky
i am very sorry to hear about your laundry duty. however, i am happy to hear that the higher are excluded. they are totally cool, especially with the dance video you and the rest of the matches made to their song. yes, me and my friends saw it, and we throughly enjoyed it. watch out, justin timberlake will come looking for you for dance tips pretty soon!
-tsk- -tsk- at least you didn't put 'black heart' or something to that extent... or did you?
Laundry can't be that bad, can it?
Do you think it's safe for you to do the laundry, considering the mishap detailed on the DVD?
Let's just hope you don't throw anything with red dye in with any white clothes this time.
-Kait.
Dang Shawn,
You're fantastic.
i don't understand shawn... why is the word "heart" banished? I think your music is amazing, you should just let the lyrics flow... your music is a great source of inspiration to me... never stop writing

I think the word baby should be banished as well.
i'm beginning to think the word "apathy" may fall into this category. i'm pretty sure every single teenager in america describes their life as apathetic, and more than likely half of them cannot comprehent the meaning of this word. a bit like penguins, panic! at the disco, napoleon dynamite, and dane cook, really. all overused and misunderstood trends in my opinion.
I find that interesting. I'm a photography student and my professors provided my class with a list of absolutely unforgivable cliche's that should never show up in our work. In other words, I can relate to your frustration.
By the way, I love your music and I find it to be highly original so don't sweat it. =)
heart? you? ...say it ain't so. ;)

I should probably reread things before I submit them. But yes, if you're trying to say something about some shitty chicago band...:o)
You know...if you're having problems with selling records..you could always lower yourself, talk shit about everyone you know, slap some nakey pics of yourself on the net, (and come up with brilliant excuse of "omgzzz i so didn't lyke mean that allll" , start dating some hollywood skank bag and then kiss your ass goodbye. Not a path I'd reccomend though.
sorry shawn but sometimes or most of the times i cant understand a bloody word your saying your just to intelligent ! haha
I think the words 'girl' and 'emo' also fall into the category of endangered words. Laundry is the perfect punishment for a crime as serious at 'heart'.
well what about rediscover, and "Dance, Transylvania". I'd have to agree with the fact that they are almost too pop oriented for their own good, but their use of "Dance" in their songs certainly doesn't detract from them.
There are many great bands.
But a band is only as great as what they do.
But in order for a band to become great,
they muct first be noticed.
And when noticed, they must know,
exactly what they came for.
It doesn't matter who they are noticed by.
